We’ve blogged a lot about Cisco’s India ambitions but did you know Cisco’s second biggest non-U.S. R&D facility is in Israel (the Bangalore site is the largest). No, we had no idea either but it’s true – the words came out of the mouth of Clifford Meltzer, Cisco senior VP network management technology group during his visit to Israel.
Meltzer told Globes Online “Israel’s business arena”, that the Israeli R&D facility “almost entirely works in development, whereas the Indian center also has sales and marketing staff.” Cisco employs 750 workers in the country, 100 of whom were hired in the past year.
He says the developers in Israel are focused on “understanding … the information flow and applications on a network, the control and management of applications, and the enabling of real-time traffic management and to make it more accessible than ever.”
Meltzer also said salary levels are rising so much in India and China that soon they will be closer to Israeli levels.
