I will be starting a series of articles under the IT Manager’s Toolbox where I would list the tools we use to manage our systems.
The first tool is LogMeIn Reach.
Recommended to me by to Microsoft MVPs, Mauricio Frietas of Geekzone, and Steve ‘fyiguy’ Hughes of Boston Pocket PC, LogMeIn Reach proved to be very invaluable to me almost from the start.
Rather easy to set up, and utilizing the Internet as a transport mechanism, LogMeIn Reach enables management of clients and servers globally, securely (SSL encryption, up to 256-bit), and behind firewalls as well.
It also reaches out to systems with dynamic addresses, allows control of unattended systems, or background control of in-use systems.
One of the best features of LogMeIn Reach is the use of on-screen wizards to enable alerts generated by the built-in auto-monitoring of remote systems functionality.
All this for a low-low price of $12.95* per month with a $199 cost for an admin console.
