In its story about the unsung heros of Silicon Valley – the executive assistants behind the tech leaders of Silicon Valley giants – Mercury News describes Debbie Gross, John Chambers’ primary exec assistant as a stock options multimillionaire.
Gross has been working as Chambers’ assistant for 16 years and is so instrumental in his day-to-day life that he considers her a “true business partner.”
Chambers thinks so highly of Gross that he believes “she has helped to shape the role of an executive assistant not only within Cisco but in the Silicon Valley.”
UPDATE: The Merc has posted up a follow-up to the story about Chambers’ exec assistant. Apparently he forgot to put on his belt one day and before his board meeting he asked Debbie Gross, his assistant to go get him one. Within 15 minutes, she found a belt for him, borrowed from someone else in the office. Thankfully he wasn’t missing an intimate item of clothing that day.
