Shedding non-core business units would be the actual corporate-speak for what VeriSign has planned, but that doesn’t fit in a headline.
The company is actively shopping a number of business units so that it can concentrate on its domain registry and online-transaction security operations, according to the Associated Press.
“We’re getting a lot of interest,” says CEO Bill Roper. “It’s not a matter of these being cats and dogs that nobody’s interested in. It’s just a matter of, we might not be the best home for those businesses.”
