If you’re gonna rob a house there are a few places to avoid, such as the pads of a rottweiler trainer, a state NRA president and a software engineer.
Just ask 19-year-old Benjamin Park of Cambridge, who had the misfortune to burgle a house with a Web cam that started recording when it detected movement.
Software engineer Duncan Grisby had been robbed before, so he set up the Web cam on his PC as a precaution. Once Parks got near the camera it started capturing footage and sending it to an offsite e-mail address. When Grisby returned home and found he had been robbed, he called police and gave them access to the e-mail account. Officers watched the footage and recognized Park, who at one point even stared at the camera, making for an easy ID.
