Former FCC chief pops up on Cisco’s board

Analysis

Cisco has appointed former FCC Chairman Michael Powell to its board of directors. The appointment is a curious one as Powell’s support of ‘Net neutrality is in contrast to Cisco’s position in that the Internet should be left open with no regulations from the government, writes TMCnet. Powell will not be the lone voice on the Cisco board with this view though as ‘Net neutrality advocate Jerry Yang, Yahoo’s co-founder also joined the board recently, according to the TMCnet story.

Taking a different angle to this news is The Register with its story headlined Cisco nabs ‘Nipple Czar’ for board post.
