[Corrected] Way back in 1994 I was a speaker at my good friend Jim Sterne’s first public event: “Marketing on the Internet.” It was an eight city tour with one day in each city and five speakers. Needless to say given the topic and the year the event was well ahead of its time. Thirteen years later, Jim is still putting on events way ahead of their time. He now runs something called the Emetrics Summit which brings together a heady group of vendors and practitioners of the arcane arts of trying to make online marketing work better. Now in its
sixth year (read the event history) the Emetrics Summit has grown remarkably quickly from a single event in Santa Barbara to a multi-city extravaganza. I spoke at the Santa Barbara event a few years ago and it was a terrific experience quite unlike any other conference I’ve been to. But Santa Barbara is now a venue of the past. Having outgrown all of the venues in Santa Barbara the next Emetrics Summit will be in San Francisco from May 7th to May 9th and along with the core conference there are training days so the event now covers a total of 6 days and presents 42 speakers. Jim sums up the focus of the Emetrics Summit as “It’s all about measuring whether your website is working and optimizing the outcomes. What should you measure? Everything from performance monitoring to web analytics to usability to customer satisfaction to social networking is on the table.” Better be a big table, Jim.
