Cisco want to be the software provider to Hollywood, writes EE Times reporting a speech made at the Connections conference by Dan Scheinman, previously Cisco’s corporate lawyer and now general manager of its fledgling Media Solutions Group. EE Times says Scheinman criticized Hollywood for failing to come to grips with the new realities of the Internet era and that studios can no longer dole out a dozen movies a year expecting a mass audience to consume them.
According to EE Times: “Scheinman quipped that he envied Rupert Murdoch’s decision to acquire MySpace over the course of a weekend with little due diligence. ‘I wish we could do something like that at Cisco,’ he said.”
