For most of us cube workers the building emergency drill usually consists of the fire drill being activated and the office manager donning her orange jacket and yellow hard hat to usher employees down the fire exit – after they’ve filled up their coffee flasks and picked up their purses, of course. Cisco, though, goes one better.
Cisco employees at its Boxborough, Mass., facility painted fake blood on their bodies and wore signs around their necks with varying critical medical conditions written on them during the company’s emergency response drill earlier this month, according to a report in The Beacon.

Cisco Systems Inc. participates in emergency response events on several of the company’s campuses. This particular event took several months to plan.
“We try to partner with the local emergency teams so in case there is a real emergency, we can coordinate efforts,” said Jon Hebb, safety and security coordinator for Cisco’s Northeast facilities and Canada. “We are one of the few companies who do drills like these. We feel it is beneficial for us and for the community.”
