First, a study by Pew Internet claims 67% of those swapping files online don’t care about copyright laws. The RIAA is hoping its buckshot approach to lawsuits will help put the fear of God in some of these folks, but Senator Norm Coleman (R-Minn.) is looking into the RIAA’s subpoena tactics via his position as chairman of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations. And now, the Boston Globe reports that incoming college freshmen at some institutes of higher learning are being warned about the perils of swapping and that if caught, the school will not/cannot protect them.
