We don’t usually cover DSL announcements in this space, but this one could be interesting for those using videoconferencing in their home office or small business. Verizon is offering a SHDSL service in 16 states that provides priority traffic during times of congestion for such things as videoconferencing, a cool feature if you rely on video to connect with colleagues and customers. Congestion is a killer for quality videoconferencing, so the priority traffic could help decrease latency when your local DSL aggregation point gets overloaded with neighborhood kiddies downloading music. The service can reach speeds up to 1.5M bytes/sec in both directions and ranges in price from $150 to $370 per month, according to speed.
