In the battle of copyright protection this is a funny twist: Sharman Networks, Kazaa’s owner, is suing the RIAA for using an “unauthorized” version of the Kazaa file sharing application in its search for illegal file traders. The RIAA has been using Kazaa Lite to help track down song traders. Geek.com’s Brian Osborne sums up the news nicely:I bet this really ticked off the lawyers with the record companies. For KaZaA to turn around and sue them on the same basis as their lawsuit must really get their goat. Even if KaZaA does not prevail in this lawsuit I think the entertainment factor alone made it a worthwhile endeavor.
