Information management combined with storage management, EMC integrates Data Domain with Networker
Digitiliti this week enhanced its information management system, adding multi-user log-in, roaming profiles, secure client communication, data management control and enhanced reporting. And, EMC upgraded its data protection and recovery software – Legato Networker – to include integration with Data Domain Boost software, which allows for increased backup speeds and simplified configuration and management.
The company’s DigiLIBE product is software and a service that consists of three components: the DigiLibe clients, which collect data from desktops, laptops and file servers, etc; an Information Director appliance that provides local storage; and, an off-site Archive Storage service, provided by Digitiliti.
DigiLIBE combines information management and storage management and allows for a way to manage, control and access unstructured data. The new features of DigiLIBE 2.0 are multi-user log-in, which allows multiple users to access data on the same PC; roaming user profiles, which let users login to any computer on the network and access their files; information transmitted over a secure connection; and, enhanced reporting.
The product now also supports Adope’s XMP graphic library and gives administrators more granular control and customization of ingested files.
DigiLIBE 2.0 is available now. Existing DigiLIBE users will be upgraded at no charge.
Other enhancements to EMC NetWorker include checkpoint restart, simplified cloning, disk load balancing and space management capabilities. Boost integration improves performance by as much as two times and lets the NetWorker management console manage Data Domain Replicator software. Simplified cloning lets administrators configure and schedule via the NetWorker management console. Checkpoint Restart lets backups be restarted from the point of interruption.
