VReplicator 3.0 is software that enables disaster recovery and business continuity for customers with VMware deployments
While the rest of us were brining, stuffing and cooking turkeys in anticipation of Thanksgiving vendors such as Vizioncore and Drobo were busy introducing new software and hardware to the storage market.
Vizioncore ships virtual backup and recovery tool
Visioncore, a vendor of virtualized data protection software, introduced vReplicator 3.0, software that enables disaster recovery and business continuity for customers with VMware deployments. VReplicator 3.0 includes a new engine that speeds replication and adds greater reliability. In addition, vReplicator 3.0 uses technology called Active Block Mapping and Change Block Tracking that increase data transmission capabilities by replicating only changed blocks of data asynchronously across the LAN or WAN.
VReplicator provides replication of the entire virtual machine and can replicate data between dissimilar hardware. It is integrated with VMware’s VirtualCenter management interface and aware of VMotion and DRS.
Data Robotics expanded its line or storage arrays for Windows, Mac and Linux users with the launch of Drobo S, which has 150% better performance than its four-bay Drobo. The Drobo S, intended for small and home office users, also includes eSATA capability and a fifth bay. Drobo S also features a one-click toggle between single and dual-drive redundancy and can protect against drive failures.
Drobo S offers capacity to as much as 10TB and eSATA, FireWire 800 and USB 2.0 connectivity. Drobo S is available at a starting price of $799 and ranges to $1,800 for a 10TB array.
