Akorri on Monday rolled out enhancements to its storage resource management software – BalancePoint 3.0.
BalancePoint lets IT organizations optimize their virtual and physical server and storage infrastructures by providing visibility and analysis of them. It lets IT admins troubleshoot the network to assure performance, plan server and storage capacity and manage service-level agreements.
BalancePoint 3.0 adds improved virtual machine and storage analysis, increased interoperability with VMware and 3PAR Inserv Storage Servers and enhanced troubleshooting analysis.
The software is now able to identify and resolve CPU bottlenecks by comparing guest operating systems with actual virtual machine usage. In addition it can find and resolve storage area network switch fabric bottlenecks involving Brocade and Cisco switches.
BalancePoint also provides a virtual machine performance index, which allows performance baselining and enables proper sizing of virtual machines for the applications running on it. A resource entitlement analysis identifies configuration and capacity issues to avoid over- or under- allocating resources. And, the software now manages both Microsoft and VMware clusters.
Among Akorri’s customers are John Hancock, Caregroup Healthcare System, Abbott Laboratories and Northeastern University.
