Virtual appliance for WAN optimization to reduce recovery time
WAN acceleration vendor Certeon this week is rolling out new software functionality that lets users protect the data on their networks by replicating it over the wide area network.
The company’s aCelera Sync backup and replication acceleration software, which is installed as a virtual appliance, provides disaster recovery over the WAN at performance increases of as much as 97%.
The aCelera Virtual Appliance software is focused on reducing remote application response time, increased scalability and reducing IT costs. ACelera Sync allows for higher bandwidth, lower latency, less contention and reduced packet loss, while maintaining recovery time objective and recovery point objectives.
The aCelera Sync software installs on industry standard servers in mirrored data centers or remote offices over the WAN. Among the products it works with are EMC, CommVault, Double-Take, EqualLogic, FalconStor, NetApp and Symantec.
It allows for point-to-point WAN optimization and is designed for virtual infrastructures. ACelera Sync works with either VMware ESX or Microsoft Hyper-V environments. Prices for aCelera Sync start at $4,000 for up to T-1 links
