The man who stole the domain sex.com, made $100 million from it and then fled to the country has been apprehended and is back in U.S. custody after five years on the run.
The LA Times reports Stephen Michael Cohen was arrested on an immigration violation in Mexico and is being held without bail in San Diego. That’s good news for Gary Kremen, the rightful owner of Sex.com (and ironically, the founder of Match.com), who won a 2001 $65 million court settlement against Cohen. After he lost the lawsuit, Cohen fled the country and has been on the lam since. With interest, Cohen now owe Kremen $85 million.
