Security firm Prolexic reported that AOL was the biggest single source of DDoS attacks over the past six months, accounting for 11.3% and 5.3% worldwide.
However an AOL spokesman used math to defend the claim. He argued that AOL’s “21.7 million U.S. members meant it had 40% of the U.S. market, so figures from Prolexic that 11% of hostile attacks monitored in the U.S. can be traced back to AOL’s network meant the ISP had a lower than industry average infection rate.”
