For today’s teen-agers, technology doesn’t come with an off switch.
The LA Times looks at how some typical teens use technology. There’s the 18-year-old who spends about 10 hours a day on her cell. Or the 14-year-old who has 110 people on his IM Buddy List. Or the 15-year-old who can conduct seven IM conversations at the same time and not blink an eye.
“It’s a big popularity thing,” one teen said. “If you don’t talk online to people, like most other people do, you miss things they talk about. There could be a whole event that happened, like somebody dumped somebody, and you talk about it online and if you’re not there, then the next day you don’t know what people are talking about.”
