The founder of an early-’90s start-up filed suit against Microsoft last week claiming Gates & Co. advised other IT companies to avoid doing business with Go Computing.
“This was a corporate mugging,” Go founder Jerrold Kaplan told the AP.
But why go after Microsoft more than 10 years after the fact? Kaplan says he found letters proving his claim that were entered as evidence in a different lawsuit against Microsoft. Seriously, how can Redmond keep these all straight?
Kaplan points to a letter Gates allegedly wrote then-Intel CEO Andy Grove: ” ‘I guess I’ve made it clear that we view an Intel investment in Go as an anti-Microsoft move,’ Gates wrote Grove, according to a copy of the lawsuit obtained by The Associated Press. ‘I am asking you not to make any investment in Go.’ “
Go had developed an early tablet computing OS that featured the use of a stylus, not a keyboard.
