These “Go get your dream job”-type stories are an interesting read, but they always interview people who currently *have* said excellent gigs.
They never talk to we Dilberts of the world, stuck in our cubes, dreaming of the day we can break our chains and go run a Puppy Dog/Comic Book/Fireworks factory. They never write about how exactly people get from Crap Job to Sweet Gig. And they certainly never write about the times Joe Blow abandoned Solid Boring Job A for Dream Job B and then couldn’t make the mortgage and had to work nights at Wendy’s until Job B started panning out.
The article “Fast Talk: Dream Jobs” claims “They’d do it for free. They don’t get discouraged by the inevitable hassles – at least not for long. Four of our favorites tell you how to get a dream job, grow with one, and make it your own.”
The story’s rather thin on the latter sentence, but you may find it an interesting read until the day someone’s writing a similar story about you.
