The Blackberry Women and Technology awards will honor top female tech users, as well as tech writers, companies that best promote women and tech, top mentors, teachers, SMB users and more.
“It is not just about women in the industry, but also women who are using technology to be successful. We wanted to celebrate that and, as part of that, hopefully we can make people aware of how exciting a career if is for women,” RIM’s Charmaine Eggberry told the BBC.
The news service says women make up only 17% of today’s computer science students.
