Gov. Kenny Guinn has signed a bill that makes Nevada the first U.S. state to approve the use of wireless, handheld gambling devices at its hotel-casinos.
Gamblers will be able to wager via PDA-like devices anywhere on hotel property, except for their rooms or “other private areas.” Please let bathrooms be included in the latter – please.
The tech details are a little sketchy, but it appears users can check out the mobile devices from the casino after they deposit their bank roll, all of which would be tracked by casino servers. Obviously manufacturers are not disclosing encryption methods, but say biometrics could be used to ensure the person playing the PDA is same person who checked it out and deposited the dough.
