America’s grandmothers are smartening up and deserting AOL for faster, cheaper pastures.

The Register reports that the shrinking ISP lost nearly a million subscribers over the past three months. This, combined with a loss of 917,000 subscribers in Q1, makes for a total loss of 2.6 million thus far this year.

Don’t cry for AOL yet, as it still has a massive base of 20.8 million, though if it keeps racking up huge losses, the company’s Running Man icon will be more representative of its fleeing subscriber base than AIM.
