Anyone who works a help desk could have predicted the results of a new survey, which shows employees are more likely to visit suspicious Web sites at work thinking the help desk will bail them out if they get a virus.
Thirty-nine percent of 1,200 corporate end users in the U.S., Germany and Japan said they had no problem visiting potentially risky sites, figuring their IT department will prevent or help them remove spyware, viruses, et. al.
No word on whether they’ve gotten the post-help-desk call beatdown/lecture after calling the IT department for help on such an issue.
