A Paris-based media watchdog has released a “how to blog and not get caught” guide for dissidents in countries with strict freedom of speech restrictions.
Reporters Without Borders’ 87-page “Handbook for Bloggers and Cyber-Dissidents”) can be downloaded in Chinese, Arabic, Persian, English and French, and offers advice on setting up and running blogs, and using pseudonyms and anonymous proxies.
“Bloggers are often the only real journalists in countries where the mainstream media is censored or under pressure,” Julien Pain, head of the watchdog’s Internet Freedom desk, writes in the introduction.
