Well, it is Dell, after all.
El Reg reports that the E510n is MIA on Dell’s site, and the company has yet to issue a release on the new model.
The company also issues this “warning” with the E510n:
“In order to boot this system, you must install an operating system. A FreeDOS media kit has been provided which will allow you to boot your system once installed. Please note that many common applications will not run and/or fully function using FreeDOS, and in order to run these applications, you will need to install the appropriate operating system and/or device specific drivers.”
Interestingly, just before we hit “submit” on this post we Googled “E510n” and was brought right to Dell’s E510 page, so we’re not sure what The Reg is saying when they mention the box is hidden on the site. (Although the PCs pictured aren’t labeled E510n but rather E510.)
The page does say, amusingly: “Note: Dell does not support non-Dell installed operating systems.” Well, Dell doesn’t support its installed OSes any better, so big deal.
