RFID protestors to target Dallas Wal-Mart

Watch out – Big Brother is tracking your purchases with spychips! That’s what a group of protesters is saying as they prepare for an “awareness-raising” event at a Dallas Wal-Mart. They believe that big corporations like Proctor & Gamble will use RFID not to track shipments to a store, but actually track your use of the products. As the Register put it: Good Lord.

Some companies can’t accurately track their own finances and people think they’ll be able to track millions of consumers using many more millions of products. And really, who cares if P&G knows you’re using Gillette razors? One can just look at a face to see if one shaves or not. We’re more suspicious of that black van that follows us everywhere.
