Where can you find the largest cluster of early-adopting geeks in the U.S.?
Trick question: They’re pretty much everywhere.
USA Today takes a look at how technology has pervaded the country and finds that early adopters can be found in nearly every American county and transcend age, income, lifestyle and buying behavior to make for a very diverse group.
They survey notes that a whopping 29% of U.S. households are likely to be early adopters. It also reveals some surprises, such as the fact that Santa Clara County, the home of Silicon Valley, ranks 149 on the list of most-tech-savvy home counties.
“Four of the 25 counties that contain the highest percentage of tech-centric households are in Colorado, in the booming Denver region. Six are in the Northern Virginia-Washington-Baltimore corridor. And three are in Utah, in the Salt Lake City and Provo areas. Also among the top 25 are counties in Iowa, Kentucky, Minnesota, Michigan and Texas,” states the paper.
