Here’s our International Travel Tip of the Day: Avoid Chinese cybercafes.
First, the country is constantly obsessing over monitoring and censoring the ‘Net content seen by citizens. Then it closes down those cafes that don’t comply and jails those who defy the government. Now they’re being burnt down – but not by the government.
Chinese officials have, however, given the death sentence to two men convicted of turning down a cybercafe. Four people were killed in the crime, which was funded by the owner of a rival cafe.
