Gates aims for Google

On his inaugural trip to Israel, Bill Gates says his company is gunning for Google. Probably in the search engine arena, but perhaps with office furniture, who knows?

“Internet search as it is today will be dramatically better in a few years, whether it’s us or Google,” he said. “We’re both going to be making dramatic improvements there.”

Implied: “But it’ll be us, not Google.”

Gates noted that Isreal’s growing high-tech sector will play a large part in the global marketplace, pledging $1.4 million for local start-ups and his intent to connect tens of thousands Israeli children to the Internet.
