Search engines: We’re #2!

“Using a search engine” has surpassed “reading news” as the second-most popular Internet task for U.S. adults.

The good folks at the Pew Internet and American Life Project say of the 94 million American adults who went online on a given day this fall, 63% used a search engine, compared with 56% last year. News reading and searching had been running neck and neck for the #2 spot for a while, but neither has been able to steal the #1 online activity spot away from e-mail.
