Google rolls out shopping map app

Well, it’s almost time to hit the mall and Google wants to help.

On Tuesday, they of the nose-bleed stock prices will roll out a tool on its Froogle shopping site that will help you map out where you can buy your gifts of choice.

The feature will “pinpoint the merchants selling a specific item within a designated ZIP code. Besides displaying a map showing all the local stores carrying the merchandise, Froogle also will list price differences.”

The AP reports Google is using a contractor to cull the store inventory information, but it “hopes to make the service even comprehensive by encouraging stores to submit their own customized merchandises list to the newly created ‘Google Base’. “
