D-Link is being accused of screwing up the Internet’s sense of time.

“Internet time overseers” say the vendor’s routers, switches and wireless access points are bombarding some ‘Net time servers with huge amounts of traffic and causing them to get thrown out of whack. Internet time overseer? Yet another job we want – especially if you get to work out of a clocktower. And if you get to look like Doc Brown.

Poul-Henning Kamp, who runs Denmark’s time server, says 50 other such servers are being affected worldwide, seeing their bandwidth bills jump and messing up time stamps on ‘Net transactions such as eBay auctions.

D-Link is being tight-lipped about its time burglary and seems to be employed Ye Olde “What, us? Surely you’re mistaken” defense.
