Just as the Internet grows at a incredible pace, so does its dark side.

Cyberstalking is one of the worst byproducts, and The New York Times looks at the difficulty victims have identifying and shaking their stalkers, then bringing them to justice, despite state and federal anti-cyberstalking laws.

“Cyberstalking is the hidden horror of the Internet,” said Parry Aftab, an attorney and executive director of, a network of 9,000 volunteers who patrol the Web and assist victims of cyberstalking, child pornography and other online ills. “Nobody talks about it. They think they have to live with it.”
