Apple’s busting at the seams

Apple is expanding its orchard (Ed. – Oh, c’mon…), building a second campus on 50 acres in Cupertino, Calif.

Well, at least it’s not being built in Bangalore…

The success of the iPod and iTunes has necessitated the need for more space for Steve & Co., who currently lease space in 30 nearby buildings.

“We’ve rented every scrap of building we can find in Cupertino to put our people, and they just keep getting further and further away from the campus,” Jobs notes.

The new compound will be about 1 mile from Apple HQ proper and house 3,500-ish employees.

Our favorite part of the story is the local reaction, especially from 27-year-old dishwasher Nicolas Sanchez: “With more people, there is more drama.”

Well, it’s not The OC.
