Welcome to Sci-Friday here at Layer 8.

Now, here’s some sweet news – those Romulans may have been onto something, according to UK scientists.

BBC News reports that two mathematicians may be bridging the gap between science fiction and science fact, noting that “placing certain objects close to a material called a superlens could make them appear to vanish.” Like a Romulan Warbird?

The mathematicians call the effect “anomalous localised resonance.” OK, “cloaking device” rolls off the tongue a lot easier.

More information that’s over our heads here.
