TV is finally getting it – it’s all about the Web. And no network seems to be doing more than NBC.
Last week we told you how NBC head Jeff Zucker demanded that all new shows have an online interactive fan element. This week, the net has announced it’ll launch two big Web sites: DotComedy.com and Firstlook.com.
DotComedy.com sounds most fun, offering an online show library featuring content from Saturday Night Live, The Tonight Show, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, the first 10 years of Late Night With David Letterman, The Office, Coach, Leave It To Beaver and The Munsters. Aside from the latter three barrel-scrapings (Leave It To Beaver?), this is sweet. Classic Letterman stuff: the velcro wall, Bryant! The Musical, Larry Bud Melman. How excellent.
Firstlook.com will offer just that, premiering up to four episodes of a show, in their entirety, before they air on TV.
And in other TV/Web news, The New York Times looks at the move online and wonders if both mediums can co-exist and even thrive together. The paper says, “Yea.”
