Developed at Carnegie Mellon University, the site is looking to chronicle every innovation in video gaming. It’s set up, Wikipedia-style, so any Mario or Luigi can contribute minutia related to anything from Pong to Grand Theft Auto.
Writes BBC News: “The developers hope that games fanatics can start to build a complete picture of the last 35 years of games history.” Talk about an easy sell to those with lots of time on their hands.
Professor Jesse Schell of Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center says: “This database will be able to serve as a historical record and a teaching tool.”
