Cell phones prove deadly in prison

What’s “deadlier than a gun” in Brazilian prisons?

The cell phone, says prison officials.

Despite the fact they’re contraband, prisoners are easily getting access to phones, calling their spouses daily and coordinating crime from behind bars. Authorities say gang leaders have used cell phones to coordinate the killings of 150 people over the past week in retaliation for some gang members being transferred to another prison.

Unable to stem the tide of phones, authorities have cut the cell signals around six state prisons. Hope no one needed theirs for legit use.
