Microsoft wants you to pay by the hour

Microsoft has developed technology in which people could pay by the hour to use a PC in their homes. Ruled by the bounds of good taste, we’ll withhold the 136 naughty jokes flying through our adolescent brain right now…

And despite the imagine of someone feeding quarters into a CPU like a meter, the idea has good roots. Redmond is teaming with Lenovo and hopes the idea will increase computer usage in developing countries and narrow the digital divide. Users would pay for half the cost of the PC upfront and buy prepaid cards to use it by the hour. When the card runs out, the users buys another or the PC stops working. The money for the prepaid cards goes toward paying off the PC.

But with running Windows, one can only imagine how many hours these people will burn held up on BSODs freezes and crashes.
