iPods already accompany many on their daily runs, but now Apple and Nike are teaming to make it official.

The companies have announced the Nike+iPod kit, in which a sensor placed in a small pocket on a Nike+ model shoe beams workout information to a wireless receiver hooked up to the Nano. Runners can track their distance and calories burned while listening to their tunes.

Two beefs: 1. Seriously, with all the marketing geniuses at Apple and Nike, Nike+iPod is the best name they could come up with? 2. Apple has got to stop taking pictures of iPods against a white background.

Carrying on…the transmitter/sensor kit is expected to be available in the U.S. this summer and retail for around $30.
