Psychiatric studies say teens who use their mobile phones more than 90 times a day are more likely to suffer from self-esteem issues and be unhappy or bored. Gee, ya think?
The study, presented an American Psychiatric Association meeting in Toronto, is among the first to explore the emotional significance of teens’ cell phone habits. (Ed. – What’s the American Psychiatric Association doing meeting in Canada?)
A survey of 575 high school students found that 2 in 5 own cell phones and students in grades 7-12 use their phone an average of one hours a day – the same amount of time they spend on homework.
