Apple: We’ll take your junky old PC

Apple’s much-ballyhooed PC computer recycling program launched yesterday. Buy a new Mac (via Apple.com or Apple stores) and the company will recycle your old junker gratis – even if it’s a PC.

This sounds like those car dealership offers where they’ll give you at least $50 for your old car provided you can drive it (or push it) onto the lot. Wouldn’t that be a fun twist? Bring in your ’72 Dodge-Swinger-equivalent PC and Apple says: “We’ll take it if you can get it to boot up for us.”

And if you did turn in a PC, we think Apple store employees should be forced to sing you a song like TGIFridays when it’s your birthday. Or, you know, when you lie and say it’s your birthday just so they have to sing…

More info here. (Ed. – On the Apple recycling move, not lying about to chain restaurants to get free songs.)
