The U.K.’s Sunday Mail took a look inside the factories where iPods are assembled and found employees work 15-hour days and are paid $50 a month – “miserable even by China’s standards.”
The story, which isn’t available online (Ed. – How quaint) , “claims [employees] work and live in the plant, in dormitories housing 100 people, and outside visitors are forbidden,” notes Wired News.
Apple, which contracts the Foxcon plant to assemble millions of iPods by hand, hasn’t responded to the story – yet.
