It’s sounds cruel but we gotta say it – if you download a screensaver online you deserve whatever you get.

McAfee has analyzed free soccer-related screensavers sites and found that, not surprisingly, most were infested with adware and spyware. The most dangerous team online was Angola, with 24% of its sites hiding malware.

Angola was followed by Brazil – 17.2%, Portugal – 16.2%, Argentina – 13.6% and the U.S. 13.0%.

“The vendors of spyware, adware and other unwanted software know how to exploit fans’ passions for financial gain,” said Chris Dixon, director of strategy for McAfee SiteAdvisor.

This is similar to the research McAfee did surrounding “American Idol,” where eventual winner Taylor Hicks was found to have the most malware-related screensavers.
