Boston has become the largest city to employ e-mail, text messaging and fax to alert residents and businesses of crime in their area.

OK, for real, the Boston fuzz are alerting those who sign up to individual incidents and trends such as car break-ins, stolen vehicles, robberies and more.
According to the AP: “The program is designed to both disseminate and solicit information, at a time when prosecutors complain that witnesses too often remain quiet. The program allows anonymous tips.”
The program is being piloted in three of the city’s most crime-ridden neighborhoods: South Boston (sorta sketchy), Dorchester (pretty sketchy), and Roxbury (extremely sketchy).
