A Web site is suing Google after the search engine giant set the site’s page ranking to zero.
Parenting-themed search engine Kinderstart.com claims its ranking was dropped to zilch because it competes with Google. Sure it does. And because we can warble a tune, we compete with Kelly Clarkson.
There probably is a good story behind why the page ranking was set to goose egg, but it sure ain’t because Google felt threatened.
In its suit, Kinderstart, which claims it lost 70% of its traffic because of the 0, wants the court to force Google to reveal how it ranks pages. Ha, as if. Nice try, though.
Google is claiming an interesting defense:
“Google argued in court that its rankings were opinions and therefore protected by the U.S. Constitution’s First Amendment, which protects freedom of speech,” writes The Register.
