Seventeen-year-old Jason Bunch of Denver was listening to Metallica on his iPod last week when he was struck by a bolt.
Newspaper reports say he was burnt from his ears down to his right hip, where his iPod sat. The device sported a hole in it and his earbuds “were reduced to copper residue.”
Writes The Register: “The teen-ager would probably have been caught by lightning anyway, but it’s possible the iPod earphone cables may have saved his life, directing the current quickly away from his chest and, crucially, his heart.”
Maybe he has super powers now! At the very least, Apple should slide him a nice new 30G model.
