How long is online news really news? Well, “forever” if you read Network World, but for other lesser news outlets, research says it’s 36 hours.
According to the journal of The American Physical Society, which sounds incredibly boring, “36 hours is the amount of time it takes for half of the total readership of an article to have read it.”
The research paper, written by a physicist, “was based on a month of tracking every click of each visitor to a prominent Hungarian news and entertainment site, origo.hu.”, notes The New York Times.
No offense to Hungary, but why wouldn’t you track an American site, given we the most online users worldwide?
